Learn more about Steve Hammerson

First and foremost, Steve is a husband and a father. He’s never been a huge fan of politics or politicians. He loves America, he loves the flag, and he’s the last person who would ever think of himself as a politician.

But in 2023 he ran for the Roseburg School Board because he couldn’t stand by and watch the State of Oregon fill our kids’ heads full of nonsense and, worse, put our daughters at risk. Steve pushed back hard against state policies that allow biological boys into girls’ sports and girls’ locker rooms. He believes common sense still matters, and that protecting our children is not optional.

He’s just a regular guy who shows up, listens, and tries to fix what’s right in front of him. That’s it. No big career plan. No desire to climb any political ladder. Just a father who got tired of watching the people in charge ignore the people they’re supposed to serve.

Steve’s values are simple: Tell the truth. Protect the kids. Don’t raise taxes. Don’t take the money. Put Douglas County first.

He has pledged to serve a maximum of three terms, refuse any pay raises, and never vote to increase taxes on the people of Douglas County. He believes elected officials should work for the public, not the other way around.

At the end of the day, politics can get corrupted. People change. Temptations show up. Steve’s strength is his character. That’s the reason we need him.
